Rebuilding Syria's grid: the generation pipeline and what it will need

Syria's power sector has moved from statements of intent to signed concessions. A consortium led by UCC Holding with Kalyon, Cengiz and Power International has concluded agreements for an integrated 5 GW programme: four combined cycle gas plants plus 1 GW of utility scale solar under a public private partnership. ACWA Power is developing proposals for up to 2.5 GW of renewables and storage, and Saudi utilities have signed memoranda covering generation, transmission, distribution and engineering support.

Utility solar is advancing separately. A 300 MW plant is proceeding with a UAE developer inside a broader agreement reported at USD 7 billion, aiming at 3,000 MW across solar and wind alongside refurbishment of existing plants and grid expansion. A renewable energy master plan supported by UNDP is under preparation.

The scale is the point: rebuilding and modernising the sector is estimated to require around USD 40 billion. That spending is not only turbines. It is switchgear and transformers, rectifiers and battery systems, power continuity for control rooms, metering, cabling, and the logistics to land all of it on site.

Ramico has commissioned a central power continuity unit at the National Data Center, delivered solar charging systems for wireless communication sites, and supplied power equipment to Syrian institutions for three decades.
